In The Studio: Versace x H&M

In about 2 weeks, the Versace for H&M collection hits stores and I was lucky enough to get my hands on this very soft, quilted and studded leather jacket for a shoot I styled a few weeks ago. This  is just one of the pieces that I am sure will sell out, especially at such an accessible price point.

In The Studio: SS12 Calvin Klein

I am so lucky I able to get my hands on collections before they hit stores so I decided to start posting images of things I love that happen to be in my studio in a series I am calling 'In The Studio.' So, for todays first post, I wanted to share with you all a pair of Calvin Klein Collection shoes I requested for an editorial I styled last week for Client Magazine. I could not wait to use these for my shoot, which should be coming out in December.

Splurge Item: Goat Hair Cardigan

My ADD kicked in the middle of making requests for an upcoming shoot and I came across this LUSH goat hair cardigan by Lanvin at Miami boutique, The Webster. Leave it to Lanvin to design this luxuriously perfect cardigan and leave it to The Webster to sell it. I did not think I needed a goat hair cardigan until I saw this. If you have the coins to spare it's yours for $2,400, which is why it makes What He Wears splurge item of the week.

Happy Shopping!

Michael Kors Underwear Now Available

On many occasions, while changing looks on a model I’ve thought to myself, "How on earth is this kid getting laid with those awful ill-fitting undies," and on many occasions I give them a fresh pair of undies from my styling kit. There is really nothing worse than bunchy underwear underneath a pair of Burberry trousers or any trousers for the matter. To the men still wearing ill-fitting underwear, I would like to introduce you to the recently launched Michael Kors underwear collection. Available on his e-commerce site are: briefs, boxer briefs, and knit boxers, as well as, tanks, crew and v- neck tees. I really like the simplicity and the approachability of Michael's debut underwear collection- it's masculine and sexy. Tell me what man doesn't want to look masculine and sexy? Always remember fellas, what you wear under your clothes is just as important as the clothes themselves.

The Peacoat Project

Todd Lynn
Today, Topman launches The Peacoat Project, which is the seventh installment of the Topman ‘Classics Projects,' this time the ubiquitous Peacoat gets a thoroughly modern overhaul in the hands of some of the most talented designers working in Menswear today on both sides of the Atlantic. The chosen designers include American designers: Todd Lynn, Timo Weiland, Tim Hamilton, plus Alister Mackie, James Small and their own - Topman Design Collection.

The Peacoat project could not have come at a more perfect time as the October chill starts to settle over New York.  What I like about this collection is that there is something for everyone all with the perspective designers little twist. So, if you have not purchased your fall coat yet I'd suggest shopping The Peacoat Project.

Lacey Lace Up

While searching for shoes for an outerwear story for Carbon Copy magazine, I came across this cool oxford with lace overlay by Florsheim for Duckie Brown, but unfortunately it had been loaned for another shoot. How I hate when that happens! Anyway, I stumbled upon it while surfing Park and Bond, Gilt Groupe’s full-price e-commerce site. What I love about this shoe is that you can wear it both as a black and brown shoe, which adds to your mileage per use.

Introducing Ecoalf...

Innovation, sustainability, and design is the mantra of Ecoalf, an up-and-coming eco-friendly accessories label founded by Javier Goyeneche. Ecoalf's goal is to develop innovative solutions to current challenges by looking at a way to create premium garments and accessories in an eco-friendly manner. After two years of visiting recycling plants around the world Ecoalf was born. The collection consists of weekend bags, bowling bags, quilted backpacks, shopping and cross-body bags, which are all made out of a nylon material called Ecoalf 5.0. Ecoalf is produced from 100% recycled fishing nets made with the highest quality in terms of technical properties, texture, and appearance. If you are as curious as I was on how Ecoalf fabric is made see the video below. It's amazing how 135 grams of fishing net is made into 1 meter of Ecoalf fabric.

Welcome a new generation of eco-friendly products!

Ami by Alexandre Mattiussi

Yesterday evening, I attended the launch of Ami by Alexandre Mattiussi at Barneys New York flagship store. After reading Alexandre's bio I was really looking forward in attending the launch of his debut collection. He's designed at Dior Homme's 30 Avenue Montaigne line, at Marc Jacobs, and at Givenchy prior to launching Ami, which means 'friend' in French.

Alexandre is not interested in designing fashion clothes with obnoxious bells and whistles that have you leaving the house looking like a proper fashion victim. Instead, Ami's first collection is smart, chic, and understated. Perfect staple pieces in rich colors, good fabrics, and good proportions is really all you need and is exactly what Ami is about. His flannels are perfection! There was a grey flannel that caught my attention and is on my wish list as we speak, as well as, a, ivory flannel front cardigan.  Ami's price points are mid-range starting at $90 for a belt and up to $1,200 for a classic leather jacket.

Not only is Ami exclusive to Barneys in New York, but is also available at Mr Porter, The Webster.

Vagabond in Fiasco's Sensual Issue

'Vagabond' was shot on a very hot and sunny August afternoon. We were all sweaty and miserable working to create the perfect moments. Fusion Models stunner Randy Lebeau was a trooper for wearing those fur coats by Christian Lacroix Homme and Burberry Prorsum.

Moncler Launches Online Boutique

Ever walk into a department store and leave completely pissed because they did not have your size in that Moncler vest you have been fiending to purchase? So, you give the sales girl your information so she can ring you up when they do have it available. Then weeks later still no vest and no phone call from the rude skinny sales girl.  Well, those annoying issues are all taken care of with the launch of Moncler's online boutique.  The site, which is powered by the Yoox Group, will carry men's and women's collections, along with shoes, bags, and accessories. This is the perfect step towards global expansion.

Splurge Item: Trussardi Tribal Belt

Yesterday, I took a little break from sending requests for this weekends shoot and decided to go screen shopping, which is like window-shopping but on the computer. I had a total Eureka moment and thought, "Why don't I use The Webster and Gilt City credit.” I then stumbled upon this tribal beaded Trussardi belt, which I think is pretty damn cool. But this post is not called, "Splurge Item," for no reason this beaded number retails for $1,050.00 and is exclusive to The Webster. Think about it like this: If you use your Gilt City credit it will not hurt as much.
