Designer Watch: Omar Kashoura

The name Omar Kashoura may not sound familiar to many in The States but Mr. Kashoura has had his hand in the fashion pots for quite sometime. Kashoura began his fashion career at London fashion house Preen and consulted for Unconditional, one of Selfridges beloved labels.

For his Autumn Winter 09 collection entitled "Sunday Best" the British Jordanian designer drew inspiration from the British novel
"Howards End." He combined the rich high society style of Regency England with a casual, distinctly luxurious approach to design; Kashoura used rich purples to communicate a sense of power and opulence. Additionally, Swiss cotton was used in thick stripes of navy are transformed into structured shirting that convey a sense of strength through subtle details. I appreciate Kashoura's great attention to details, which is exactly what he is known for. One of my favorite pieces in the collection is a long-sleeve tee in olive, which he added a drawstring through the crew neck giving a scrunch effect to what would have been your average neckline. An almost knee-length anorak in a navy shiny finish was another favorite of mine. Omar Kashoura objective is to progessive and influence the modern man while focusing on cuts, unique finishing and details- after all it is always about the details!
